Getafe – Celta Vigo Match Preview

  • Nine games in, three goals scored, just two points secured, and zero clubs below them – the statistics are bleak for rock-bottom Getafe who already have eight points less at this early stage than during 2015/16 – the last time they were relegated from La Liga (LL). The pressure is firmly mounting on boss Quique Flores, who will surely point out that Getafe’s two points have come across their last two games, so improvement has already begun.
  • Regardless of which way you spin things, positivity isn’t flowing around the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez at the moment, especially after Getafe were winning 1-0 after 60 minutes in both previous games here only to concede a combined three late goals and drop five crucial points.
  • Opponents Celta Vigo aren’t having the best of campaigns either, and whilst they have just two LL wins so far (W2, D1, L6), that paltry number is still bound to swirl up envy amongst home fans! There’s no need to panic yet despite their lowly position, as seven points from nine games is the exact number Celta managed last term, and they still ended up finishing in a respectable eighth.
  • However that position was achieved only after manager Eduardo Coudet was brought in following the sacking of Óscar García due to that poor start last season. Coudet now finds himself in the same position as the man he replaced nearly a year ago, and will subsequently be desperate to end Celta’s four-game winless run at Getafe (D2, L2).
  • Players to watchSandro Ramírez has scored two of Getafe’s three LL goals, both before half-time. However, could Nolito be the man to bring all three points back to Galicia? Celta have only beaten Getafe three times across the last eight years, but each time Nolito scored the match opener.
  • Hot streak: Thirteen straight H2Hs have featured at least four yellow cards.
