- Bayern Munich left it very late at the weekend as they stumbled past Bundesliga strugglers Augsburg at home 1-0 thanks to an 82nd minute penalty. Although it’s the result that ultimately matters, their performance won’t have come as ideal preparation for this huge UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final second-leg clash with Villarreal, especially as the German side enter this game 1-0 down on aggregate after a poor display in the first-leg on Spanish soil last midweek.
- The Bavarian giants will have to turn this tie on its head if they’re to avoid successive UCL quarter-final exits after their defeat to PSG last season.
