Everton – Crystal Palace Prediction and Preview

  • Now familiar foes, Everton and Crystal Palace are readying to do battle again for a fourth time in a little over three months. The Toffees – sat 18th in the Premier League table – boast an unbeaten record across the previous three H2H meetings this season (W2, D1) and will welcome the chance to add to that record again with just a point separating them from safety ahead of the round.
  • The Toffees’ 2-0 defeat against champions Manchester City last week was just their second loss in 2024, yet just one win in that time will be a concern for manager Sean Dyche (D4, L2). That sole success did at least come against the Eagles in the FA Cup, which extended the Everton manager’s own dominant H2H record against Palace to seven matches (W4, D3).
  • Sat just five points above Everton and on the periphery of the relegation battle, it’s been a tumultuous week for the visitors as manager Roy Hodgson was taken to hospital after being taken ill during a training session on Thursday morning. Palace were forced to cancel their press conference previewing this clash, while in the background it’s been reported that Austrian Oliver Glasner has agreed to succeed the 76-year-old as the club’s new manager.
  • Whoever is in the dugout on Monday night will be charged with trying to end Palace’s rotten run of form. Last month’s 3-2 win against basement boys Sheffield United was their only success from their past six competitive matches (D1, L4), while each of their previous three Premier League away games all ended in defeat. The Eagles haven’t lost more consecutively in the competition since losing their final four away games in the 2019/20 season.
  • Players to watch: Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré returned to full training this week, and despite missing ten of their last 11 matches, the midfielder remains the club’s top Premier League scorer (6), one of which came in November’s H2H win (3-2). Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta has faced no side more than Everton, scoring twice, but has finished on the winning side just once (P8 – W1, D3, L4).
  • Hot stat: Everton could draw three straight home Premier League games here for the first time since a run of four between January and February 2015.
