Match Preview
Juventus are finally showing the form that is expected of them, as they followed-up their Champions League success at Wembley with a league win to reclaim top place in Serie A (SA). Aided by the recent slip-up of Napoli, the SA title looks set to stay in Turin for yet another year.
This match is Juventus’ game in hand over Napoli, and victory would put them four points ahead in the title race. That would be the perfect way for Juventus to continue the form they have been building up.
Ahead of kickoff, Juventus have lost only once in their last 19 SA games (W17, D1, L1). They also come into this one on the back of a stunning 11-match winning streak. Juventus are also yet to concede a goal in eight league games this year!
Their home form is so pristine that Juve lead the charts in almost all statistics – number of wins, number of goals, and least goals conceded! Only Lazio, in 13 home games, have been more potent than Juventus when gifted home advantage.
That doesn’t bode well for the visitors, although their away form has picked up in their last seven road trips (W5, D2). More importantly Atalanta, they have scored in each of those games, scoring 12 and conceding just four.
Players to watch: Paulo Dybala (JUV) has four goals in his last three games and seems to have picked up form at the right time.
Josip Ilicic (ATA) needs to do more and add to his seven goals, the last of which came before Christmas 2017.
Stat attack: Atalanta are winless in 26 SA encounters against Juventus (D4, L22), with their last league win coming way back in 2001.
Juventus have scored the most goals in the second-halves this season (35) and have conceded the fewest in the first-halves (six) in SA.
