Match Preview

Thankfully for fans of Twente, an awful season is about to end as they welcome Breda to De Grolsch Veste – a ground which has seen better days. The atmosphere here will be a far cry from the title winning campaign of 2009/’10 as Twente have been relegated from the Eredivisie for the first time since 1983.
The ‘Tukkers’ (TWE) went into their last game full of hope following a victory with a clean sheet over Zwolle in the game prior, before being humbled 5-0 by Vitesse, confirming there will be not even a chance of the relegation play offs come the end of play here.
The recent victory over Zwolle was Twente’s only victory in the Eredivisie in 2018 – they boast a shameful record of just one victory, and two clean sheets in this calendar year (W1, D5, L9).
Breda are not exactly on fire themselves, and could still mathematically be drawn into a relegation play off. However, they are three points clear of Roda with a +10 goal difference advantage so the visitors can afford a loss, albeit not a heavy one.
Away from home, Breda have won just a single game from their last 13 (W1, D5, L7) yet they can still be considered ‘form favourites’ here, a term used loosely as two of the weakest sides in the division come head to head.
Players to watch: Although all hope is gone and Twente are devoid of confidence, Oussama Assaidi managed a brace of goals to win the reverse fixture 2-1.
Mitchell te Vrede may lead the line for Breda in the absence of top scorer Thierry Ambrose, te Vrede featured in Breda’s 3-0 win last time out.
Stat attack: Twente are unbeaten vs Breda in their last ten Eredivisie encounters (W6, D4), although Twente have failed to win 16 of their last 17 games.
These two teams have the two worst disciplinary records in the Eredivisie – Twente (67 cards) Breda (69 cards).
