Match Preview

High-flying Watford are ready for a new bout of Premier League (PL) football when they host Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road. The home side are hoping to extend their perfect start to three wins – something they have never achieved before in the PL!
Watford’s good start – with victories over Brighton and Burnley – helps them forget their end to last season which saw them win just once in their last nine games (W1, D2, L6).
Their attempt to win three from the start will fittingly take place at home. Last season Watford were just about double as effective in front of their own fans (27 points) as when playing away (14 points). They will, however, have to break the spell against Palace, who’ve come away with at least a draw in their last seven visits here!
Palace already have three more points than they did after gameweek seven last season and despite losing against Liverpool in the last round, they have looked solid and tightly organized. Offensively, however, they need to up their game as only six teams have fewer than Palace’s 20 shots from the first two matches.
Just three points separated these teams last season come final day, and we should be in for a tight game again.
Players to watchRoberto Pereyra has scored six goals in his last eight home games for Watford, while Wilfried Zaha is just one goal shy of becoming Palace’s all-time top PL goalscorer with 24!
Stat attack: Feisty! There have been 30 yellow (5.0 on average) and two red cards awarded in the last six PL H2H games.
Last season, only two of Watford’s home games saw less than one goal scored.
Palace conceded at least one goal in 14 of 19 away matches last season.
Fifty-five percent of both sides’ matches last season ended over 2.5 goals.
