Match Preview

Cardiff City will be searching for their first win and, indeed, goals of the league season when they face an Arsenal side struggling with the transition from Arsène Wenger to Unai Emery.
A pair of 0-0 draws in their last two league games – a scoreline seen in three of their last four – marks a run of four league games without a goal for Cardiff. Furthermore, in terms of just the Premier League (PL), Cardiff are without a win in their last seven (W0, D3, L4).
Failure to get anything out of this game would mark Cardiff’s worst points start to a season over the first four games (any league) since 2005/06 when they recorded one win and three losses.
Arsenal are still adapting to life under Emery and despite claiming their first points of the season last week with a 3-1 home win over West Ham, the team are still coming to terms with the new style.
One area that needs rapid improvement for Arsenal is their away form. After losing 3-2 recently at Chelsea, Arsenal have just one solitary win in their last ten PL away days (W1, D1, L8), despite scoring in nine of those games.
Players to watch: Defender and captain Sean Morrison has scored three of Cardiff’s last six competitive goals, while left back Nacho Monreal had easily his best goalscoring season ever for Arsenal last year with six, and got off the mark last week.
Stat attack: Cardiff have failed to score in their last four games against Arsenal (D1, L3) and last beat ‘The Gunners’ in 1960/61 (P9, D4, L5).
A loss here for Arsenal would mark the fourth time in the PL era that they have lost their first two away games of the season – their worst-ever sequence.
Arsenal lost away to two of the three promoted sides last season.
