Hertha BSC welcome Bayern Munich on the back of their first loss in 2017/18. The visitors also had a torrid match during the week, dropping points for the first time this season in a manner ill-befitting of champions.
Remaining undefeated in their first four league matches, Hertha enjoyed a good start to the season (W3, D1). However, during their defeat to Werder Bremen (1-3) last Tuesday, they set a new and unwanted Bundesliga record as the became first team to concede a penalty in five successive Bundesliga games.
Hertha are the only team currently in the Bundesliga that are unbeaten in their last three games against Bayern – albeit via three straight draws. That said, however, Hertha have not lost to any other team more often in the Bundesliga – suffering 12 home losses against ‘Die Roten’ to date, as part of an overall H2H home record of: W7, D14, L12.
Bayern have conceded in six straight home games, but their defence – curiously – is better on the road. The Bavarians are yet to concede in competitive away games this season, making their record of three clean sheets in the last six away games to Hertha (W4, D2) of peak relevance.
Players to watch: Ondrej Duda is currently the top scorer of the Bundesliga, with four goals for Hertha.
Manuel Neuer of Bayern has never lost against Hertha in 17 occasions (W15, D2) recording 13 clean sheets in the process.
Stat attack: Hertha have only trailed at half-time once in six competitive games this season, going on to lose the one match in question.
The hosts have won only two of 16 home games against Bayern this century (W2, D6, L8)!
Bayern have been in the lead at half-time in four of their five league games this season, while scoring first on four occasions.
