Fulham, hovering around the relegation zone, welcome an in-form Arsenal side that’s registered five league wins on the bounce. A third London derby of the season for both clubs, Fulham have suffered two defeats already (against Crystal Palace and Tottenham).
Indeed, not much has gone smoothly for Fulham so far (W1, D2, L4), with the team one of three that has conceded more than two goals per match on average (2.29). It’s four PL games since their last win, and they’ve lost three H2Hs in a row against Arsenal.
A silver lining is their home form, where they’ve lost just one of their last 15 matches (W11, D3, L1 – in all competitions), keeping nine clean sheets during that period.
Most of those games were in the Championship however, and this match is something completely different. Unai Emery has really got his Arsenal side firing on all cylinders – they now have eight wins on the bounce in all competitions.
The goals are pouring in, with the visitors scoring 24 goals in nine competitive fixtures since their PL opener against Manchester City – an average of 2.67 per match. Entertainment has been on offer, as seven of those nine games produced over 2.5 goals.
Players to watchAleksandar Mitrović has been Fulham’s ray of light so far, netting five PL goals in seven games. Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, meanwhile, has fought his way into the starting eleven, and has two goals and two assists from four starts.
Stat attack: Cumulatively, 64% of these teams’ PL fixtures have ended over 2.5 goals – 43% over 3.5.
Four yellow cards or more (total) have been awarded in just one of Fulham’s seven PL matches so far.
Curiously, Arsenal are one of just two teams outside the bottom three who are yet to lead a PL game at half-time this season.
