Match Preview

On a four-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga (W3, D1), RB Leipzig can thank their solid defence after registering three clean sheets across those games. That defence has not only conceded less goals (19) than any other team this season, but has been consistently strong as games draw on, which is why Leipzig’s tally of just nine second-half goals conceded is the division’s lowest.
Their attacking prowess is worth mention also, with each of their seven home victories this league campaign (W7, D3, L1) involving two or more team goals scored. Leipzig netted the opener in each of those victories, but here they take on a strong travelling Hoffenheim side that’s scored the opening goal in an impressive six of their ten Bundesliga away fixtures (W4, D4, L2).
Whilst the visitors are hunting a fifth undefeated Bundesliga game in a row (W2, D2), much of the focus will be on boss Julian Nagelsmann who is primed to take over Leipzig in the summer. However, his record of just two wins from six matches against his new employers (W2, D1, L3) probably won’t cause the hosts too many concerns.
Furthermore, ahead of this round only Bayern and Dortmund have scored more goals than Hoffenheim’s tally of 44 this season, although that number could be a lot higher – the visitors have hit the woodwork a league-high 16 times.
Players to watch: The last four Bundesliga games Yussuf Poulsen (RBL) scored in, he grabbed a brace. He also got a double in the reverse fixture. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramarić has nine Bundesliga goals and also netted in the reverse.
Stat attack: Leipzig have scored in both halves in six of their 11 Bundesliga home matches.
Both teams have scored in all of Hoffenheim’s Bundesliga away fixtures this term.
The last three top-flight H2Hs have featured over 2.5 second-half goals.
