Match Preview

Norwich enter this Premier League (PL) clash having won the second half (by a one-goal margin) in both of their two PL games this season. Additionally, if bringing second-tier form into the mix, three of Norwich’s last four competitive home wins have seen them score exactly twice in the opening half-hour.
As a result of their ability to capitalise on quick starts at Carrow Road, Norwich boast an unbeaten home run in all competitions that currently stands at 11 games (W8, D3). Seven of those wins have seen Norwich score first.
Chelsea are still winless in the PL under Frank Lampard (D1, L1), losing ‘to-nil’ in three of four halves of domestic football under him. However, the ‘Blues’ will be hoping that they can improve further upon their good PL away record against newly promoted opposition since August 2017 (W4, L2).
Though just one of those wins yielded a clean sheet, Chelsea’s record at Carrow Road this century is solid. The ‘Blues’ have returned a record of: W4, D1, from their last five PL visits here, winning the first half to-nil in all of the victories.
Players to watch: In-form Norwich striker Teemu Pukki has seen three of his four PL goals so far come after the hour mark, whilst Todd Cantwell (NOR) assisted both of his second-half goals in last weekend’s win over Newcastle.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount scored here last season for Derby. That goal was one of four from his last seven to arrive five minutes either side of half-time.
Stat attack: Over half (five) of Norwich’s last eight competitive home wins have seen them score first and do so inside the opening 15 minutes of play.
Chelsea’s last four PL away matches against newly-promoted teams have each seen exactly three goals in total.
Both of Chelsea’s last two PL wins here saw them open the scoring inside the first five minutes.
