After recording their fifth home win-to-nil in this La Liga (LL) campaign, Granada ought to be confident. Thus far, they have maintained a perfect four-game record (with four cleansheets) against teams in the bottom-half of the table after week 16. Furthermore, every cleansheet for Granada this season has come as part of a victory.
The Andalusian club’s last five losses, meanwhile, have seen them concede at least two goals. As such, it appears as though Granada’s only hope of victory lies in defending sharply and scoring first. Indeed, the newly promoted side maintain a perfect record (W7) when opening the scoring, and lament a winless one (D3, L6) when failing to do so.
Yet to keep a cleansheet on the road in their LL campaign to date, Levante have gone on to lose their four away trips when falling behind first, having failed to record a single away equaliser all season. Given that, they look very unlikely to become just the first visiting team to equalise at Granada in the 2019/20 LL season.
Despite losing four of five away trips to teams in the top-half of the table after week 16 (W1, L4), only Getafe were able to prevent Levante from covering the +1.5 goal handicap, despite their second-half goal difference of -9 on the road.
Players to watch: Despite recently serving a suspension, Granada’s Roberto Soldado continues to accrue bookings, collecting seven in his last ten matches!
Levante’s leading goalscorer Roger Martí has scored in one only away appearance this season.
Stat attack: Granada are one of just a few remaining teams to have not collected a red card this LL season.
Referee Carlos del Cerro Grande is yet to send a player off in his eight LL appearances this season.
Both teams have scored in all but one of Levante’s last six LL games.
