Lazio – Udinese Prediction and Preview
- Lazio’s hopes of playing European football next season may well rest on winning the Coppa Italia, unless they can quickly turn their league form around. The Eagles, who are through to the semi-finals of the domestic cup, were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League in midweek, with a 3-0 defeat in Germany which consigned them to a 3-1 aggregate loss against Bayern Munich.
- That result means Maurizio Sarri’s side have now lost four of their last five matches across all competitions (W1), while slipping six points off Serie A’s top six ahead of this round, but with 11 league games still remaining in the season, that gap is far from insurmountable. However, recent form would hint they’ll struggle to close it, with reversals to Bologna and AC Milan meaning Lazio are at risk of losing three successive home games for the first time since September 2009.
- Opponents Udinese will be hoping they can make that happen, although they have a shocking recent H2H record, winning just one of the last 20 meetings (D5, L14).
