Match Preview

Fortuna Düsseldorf welcome FSV Mainz following good performances by both sides in the last Bundesliga matchday. The hosts surprised Bayern Munich after a 3-3 away draw, while the visitors lost 2-1 in a tight home game against league leaders Dortmund.
The home side look to be turning their fortunes around, and are now unbeaten in their last two league games (W1, D1), having previously lost six in a row. In fact, their late equaliser against Bayern last week made it seven Bundesliga goals for Düsseldorf in two games – more goals than in their ten previous matches combined (six)!
Defensive problems are still a thorn in Düsseldorf’s side though, with only one Bundesliga clean sheet this season, and 28 goals conceded so far – twice as many as Mainz (14 conceded).
In Bundesliga meetings alone, Mainz are yet to lose to Düsseldorf (W1, D1), although the visitors do have the second-worst attack in the Bundesliga with just 11 goals scored. However, after a run of five league matches without hitting the back of the net (D2, L3), Mainz have now scored in each of their last four fixtures (W2, L2).
Keeping up that run will be crucial. In the two Bundesliga away matches that Mainz have scored in, they recorded a positive result (W1, D1), the other three were all losses.
Players to watch: Dodi Lukebakio scored all three goals for Düsseldorf last weekend and has five Bundesliga goals in total. Meanwhile, Jean-Philippe Mateta has netted two goals in Mainz’s last three matches.
Stat attack: There’s been over 2.5 goals in nine of Düsseldorf’s 12 Bundesliga games.
Three of Mainz’s last four Bundesliga fixtures ended in a 2-1 scoreline (one win, two losses).
Six of the eight away goals Mainz have conceded, and ten of the 11 home goals Düsseldorf have conceded, came in the second half.
